The coalition forces are beginning to have success allying with tribal leaders in Diyala province, using methods of 'tribal reconciliation' that have worked quite successfully in Anbar province.

(7/12/07) Residents in western Baghdad have taken up arms against al-Qaeda, and have had some success in fighting them. This article in Der Spiegel details former insurgent allies Al-Qaeda and the Islamic Army now fighting each other in Amiriyah, Baghdad's most dangerous neighborhood.
